I still haven't figured out how to talk about it without coming off as a lot more bitter and angry than I actually am: what I mostly am is sad. What made me want to leave Beijing -- where I'd planned to stay more or less indefinitely -- had a lot more to do with my own internal climate than with the air quality or visa policies or the cost of living, and there are plenty of people who are staying on, or are just starting out on their own adventures there. I hope they'll have at least as good a time there as I did.
